Being a wife and mom is at the core of who Dr. Shasen Bates-Smith is. Spending time with her wonderful husband and amazing son is the most rewarding and grounding part of her journey. Her family keeps her inspired, motivated, and full of love.
Outside of orthodontics, mentorship, and content creation, she loves to travel, try new cuisines, and immerse herself in different cultures to expand her world view. Wellness is also a big part of her life. She finds peace and clarity in yoga classes and feels recharged after a good wellness retreat. Whether she’s exploring a new country, enjoying time with her family, or centering herself on the mat, she believes in living with intention, balance, and gratitude.
Education and Memberships
After receiving her Bachelor’s Degree at UCSB in sunny Santa Barbara, she went on to earn her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the prestigious Columbia University College of Dental Medicine in New York City. She completed her orthodontic training in a clinically and academically robust residency at Montefiore Medical Center in NY.
